Tips For W Virginia Motorcycle Rides
The summers are hot in WV, but there will be less heat and humidity if riding in the mountains, as the higher elevations have a dramatic effect on the climate. In the winter months, snow and ice will shut down any rides in the mountains. The eastern part of the state tends to be warmer, so consider breathable riding gear if you're planning a ride in that region. In addition, WV is one of the rainiest states in the nation, so be sure to pack rain gear.
Do I Need A Motorcycle Helmet In W Virginia?
According to West Virginia law, all motorcycle riders and passengers are required to properly wear a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) certified helmet.

MIDLAND TRAIL
ROUTE: US-60
DISTANCE: 80 miles
TIME: 2 hours
The Midland Trail is an awesome motorcycle road in the Appalachian region. This ride can be started just off our above-mentioned WV-39 route, where you'll carve alongside the Kanawha River. There's a lot of scenic diversity on the Midland Trail motorcycle ride, including grassy farmland, mountain views and waterfalls to stop and check out along the way. Continue east to White Sulphur Springs, WV. There are many scenic overlooks along this part of US-60, including places to stop and enjoy the views of the river. Look out for bits of gravel on the road as well as a few rough sections. On the plus side, much of this road runs along Highway 64, so there is not a lot of traffic to contend with along US-60.
